The Canadian government is providing support to help these businesses develop effective, customized cybersecurity programs to protect against digital attacks, ransomware and malware infections.
Nearly a fifth of Canadian businesses were affected by cybersecurity incidents in 2021.
The most common types of incidents were theft of money or ransom demands (7%) and theft of personal or financial data (6%).
More than a third (39%) of Canadian businesses affected by cybersecurity incidents indicated there was no clear reason.
